Good day BAOP Families,
As I wrote to our 8th grade students for their graduation, I was reminded of a quote by Helen Keller, "A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to make the turn." This quote rings true for the past 15 months. The road to your child's education took a major curve during this pandemic! The world, life, and education as we knew it was forced to take drastic turn, but with YOUR help and support, your child took that turn and continued on the road to achieving their education!
This school year may not have been ideal, and we were all faced with many challenges, but with your support and dedication, your child persevered! I want to personally THANK YOU for everything you did to assist your child and the teachers each and everyday! Our attendance rate this year was over 96%, which is amazing. I owe that to all of our parents who made sure that their child signed on everyday for morning meeting, live zoom classes, guided groups, and that they submitted all of their assignments. Not only did your child survive and succeed during this school year of remote instruction, you did as well!! WE APPRECIATE YOU for all that you have done, especially for opening your homes to our teachers and staff members each day and for taking the time to attend our parent workshops to learn the various technology and online platforms, as well as how to best assist your child academically and emotionally during this pandemic and remote learning.
Please be sure to return your child's school laptop to the building today (latest by 11:00 a.m.) as stated in the letter I emailed home on Monday, June 14th. If your child is participating in the summer book club, and you need to hold onto the device, please notify your child's teacher. We will schedule a date the week of August 9th for book club participants. All laptops will need to be cleaned and updated over the summer so that they are ready to be put in classrooms when we are in the building in September.
We are excited and looking forward to being back in our beautiful school building to resume in-person instruction on Thursday, September 9, 2021, for the 2021/2022 school year!
I would like to take this time to wish you all a safe, happy and healthy summer. Enjoy family time away from the computer! Spend time offline, outside in the fresh air reading a good book!

Mientras escribía a nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado para su graduación, recordé una cita de Helen Keller, "Una curva en el camino no es el final del camino, a menos que no puedas dar la vuelta". Esta cita es cierta durante los últimos 15 meses. ¡El camino hacia la educación de su hijo tomó una curva importante durante esta pandemia! El mundo, la vida y la educación como la conocíamos se vieron obligados a dar un giro drástico, pero con SU ayuda y apoyo, su hijo tomó ese giro y continuó en el camino hacia el logro de su educación.
Puede que este año escolar no haya sido ideal y todos enfrentamos muchos desafíos, pero con su apoyo y dedicación, ¡su hijo perseveró! ¡Quiero agradecerle personalmente por todo lo que hizo para ayudar a su hijo y a los maestros todos los días! Nuestro índice de asistencia este año fue superior al 96%, lo cual es asombroso. Se lo debo a todos nuestros padres que se aseguraron de que su hijo se inscribiera todos los días para la reunión matutina, las clases de zoom en vivo, los grupos guiados y que presentaran todas sus asignaciones. Su hijo no solo sobrevivió y tuvo éxito durante este año escolar de instrucción remota, ¡usted también lo hizo!
